Planning Commission Opening

At the end of this year the Town of South Boston Planning Commission will have a vacancy.  This is a volunteer position with the Town, one where residents provide valuable input to local government on land use and area growth.

The Planning Commission's primary role is an advisory one, as they inform the governing body on citizens' recommendations regarding land use planning, community growth, and development. They serve to initiate new ideas and serve to call attention to current and potential problems associated with positive or negative growth. The Planning Commission is also in a position to shape the physical growth and land uses.

Regular meetings of this commission are held, normally on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00pm.  This commission first began in 1945 and is comprised of 7 members.
