Department
The Finance Department collects and accounts for all funds received and expended, manages town investments, assists auditors, bills and collects taxes, utility payments and other miscellaneous payments. The department is also responsible for accounts payable and receivable, purchase orders and payroll.
The Finance Department includes five positions comprised of the Finance Director, Head Cashier, Bookkeeper, Accounts Payable and Utility Billing Clerks. The Finance director serves as fiscal agent for VASAP and William Tuck Airport, supervises utility meter reading for the town water and sewer systems, and negotiates water and sewer rates with Halifax County. The director also assists the Manager with development of the town budget.
