Mary Douglas and Francis Mitchell conducted the camp with the help of Karen Taylor, R.J. Scott, Ruth Brown, Al’Tasia Graves, Lisa Leigh, Ebony Morris and other parent volunteers. Mary Douglas, a high school physical education teacher and coach, has been teaching archery each summer at the South Boston Rec. Center for over 20 years. Campers learned the fundamentals of bow shooting, and safety with bows and arrows provided by the Parks and Rec Dept.. Prizes were awarded to the best performances among teams and individuals. The turnout was the norm for archery camp with 65 to 80 children attending daily. As usual the kids and parents enjoyed the camp. The final day of camp closed with awards ceremony and a picnic.
