Fire service is provided by the South Boston Fire Department who is assisted by the South Boston Volunteer Fire Company.
Fire Protection for the community is structured around five major departmental components:
• emergency medical service,
• training and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and facilities.
Fire suppression provides for the extinguishments of fires and the performance of related duties once a fire occurs.
Fire prevention duties consist of inspections, prevention, and public education in an effort to reduce the number of uncontrolled fires. We have eight employees and forty volunteers.
Emergency medical services are provided by 15 First Responders who ensure the community of prompt and professional emergency medical care.
