On September 11, 2006, South Boston adopted a resolution to enter a Sister City relationship with Leverano, Italy.
South Boston is participating in "the commemoration of Virginia’s 400th anniversary through the Virginia 2007 Community Program – a statewide celebration of who we are, how we got here, and where we’re going!" More!.
